![]() It makes suicide sound worthwhile, even if at a high cost. This is presenting suicide as your best option of dealing with a problematic life. "If you're alive and noone cares, they ignore you and hurt you then suicide will make everyone listen to what you have to say and the people who were mean to you will feel really ashamed and stop being mean." It took us a while to realise how the worst part of it was how it presented suicide as empowerment. If I battle looks and questions everyday, what will I receive once I am seen with a LGBTQA+ spoken word poet? The constant fear runs through my head as every Pride event comes together and the word is spread. I fear that I will be marked as an outcast and be ostracized from the student body. I fear that after a huge event like a Drag Show, that I will face micro-aggressions or even hateful comments. Is my Pride shirt too much? Are my shorts too long? Are my clothes too baggy? Is my hair too short? Does my tie look too masculine? Just like any other member of the LGBTQA+ I am very excited for Pride week, but I will admit I am very nervous for the reactions that will come from it. ![]() On a Jesuit, catholic campus, I always worry about other’s reactions to just my daily appearance. Even though we have worked tirelessly attempting to make Pride week the best show of queer culture, all of us will admit to being worried about the reaction. Sometimes your day consists of battling stares, questions and public restrooms, so just imagine the reaction of the week of pure Pride and demonstrating the wonderful aspects of gayness. Going to a Jesuit University is not easy for anyone who is a part of the LGBTQA+ community. Beyonce serves as co-founder, along with Salma Hayek Pinault. Chime For Change is a platform designed to empower women and girls through education, health and justice. In her album "Beyonce," she features an excerpt of a TEDx talk from Nigerian feminist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, in "Flawless." She has publicized her feminist beliefs and volunteers with several organizations that promote the empowerment of women, such as Chime For Change. Since her Destiny's Child days, Beyonce has created music that uplifts and empowers women to be strong and independent. ![]() Throughout her visual album, "Lemonade," you see how much she relies on her faith to be the amazing woman that we all know. In her most recent works of art she has been very vocal about her belief in God. There have always been rumors regarding Beyonce's religious beliefs. They are known to have funded the bail money for the movement's arrested protesters, as well as Trayvon Martin's funeral. Beyonce and husband Jay Z are major supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement. Thank you for being unapologetically blackįor those who didn't know, Beyonce is black! In her video "Formation" and her 2016 Super Bowl halftime show performance, she paid homage to her African American culture. She even put society in check in her video "Formation" by stating that she likes her "baby's hair with baby hair and afros." Despite the public's attitude towards Blue rocking her natural hair, Beyonce has continued to allow Blue to be the most adorable little naturalista. Thank you for being a natural hair enthusiast īeyonce has received a plethora of negative reactions from the public regarding, her daughter, Blue Ivy's hair. Her Houston and Louisiana roots are always apparent in her songs. Not only is she from Houston, but she is from the historic Third Ward.
